On the morning of August 7, 2021, I dropped foster Bengie off with his furever family and then headed straight to the GPRS TX transport meetup to pick up new foster Anakin. He was a goofy and playful 8-month old pup that was super easy to introduce to our pack. Anakin would lay on the floor, "spatchcock" his back legs and lay on his front paws, something we call the "seal sploot!" I also joked that Anakin should be adopted while he was still a young pup so that someone could help keep him from joining the dark side. It turned out that Anakin's only "dark side" was his obsession with food and never-ending playful energy - Anakin always wanted to be playing or doing something to entertain himself. Luckily, I added foster Risa to our pack within the next week and she played non-stop with Anakin during his first stay with us.
Unfortunately, Anakin's high energy turned out to be too much for his first adopters, and he returned for a second stay with us in October 2021, the weekend after we got foster Kiwi, and the day before foster Costello was also returned to us! Suddenly we had three foster dogs and a total of six dogs in the house. Later that week, our good friend volunteered to foster Anakin and he stayed with her pack until February 2022, when he was officially adopted! Anakin now lives near Poulsbo, WA with an older Pyr sister, chickens, and a backyard with fabulous dirt piles.
